Join Write On, State! at Bklue Brick Theatre (home of Happy Valley Improv) for a week of experimenting with ways of making, moving, and playing with writing!  Journals, poems, stories, scenes, silly stuff, and more.

This week of writing is all about writing freely, for fun, and FAST! We will try lots and lots of ways of starting pieces of writing, with a focus on getting words on paper and trusting our own minds and words to take us where we need to go.

Great for campers who just love writing and want some dedicated writing time and a lot of fun inspiration! Also great for campers who would like to become more fluent and less fearful of starting new pieces of writing.

Camp highlights:

  • Writing starters for any genre
  • Improv, movement, and making things
  • Grow your “to be written” list
  • Showcase Friday at 3:30

Anne Elrod Whitney, Ph.D.

Camp Leader

I’ve been teaching writing for more than 25 years, including my current position as Professor of Education at Penn State. I believe anyone can improve as a writer, and I also believe in the power of writing to help us express ourselves as well as to think, reflect, and discover. Even after publishing several books, I still love those moments when I’m not sure what to say, start writing, and then find out!.

Camps will be co-led by Dr. Whitney and a teaching partner, TBD.
