Teaming up with Adam Swartz Puppets for a week of improvisational storytelling.

Creative writing? Yes, and puppetry! Drama games? Yes, and teamwork! Visual arts? Yes, and more!

This week is all about stories. Where do stories come from? Who and what makes a story? How do stories take shape?

We’ll work with many ways to get stories going, to grow and develop them, and to share them with audiences. Our days will involve hands-on, bodies-on, and words-on storymaking: writing, puppet-making, improv, speaking, sound, images, and more. We’ll also get experience in building relationships and collaborating.

Great for campers who are creative, like to try new things, and want to have fun while making something awesome! Also great for campers who would like to gain experience sharing stories with an audience or learn new genres of storytelling.

Camp highlights:

  • Build your own puppets
  • Write for performance or write from performance
  • Laugh a lot
  • Showcase Friday at 3:30

Camp Co-Leader
(This camp will be co-led by Dr. Whitney and the good folks of Adam Swartz Puppets.)

I’ve been teaching writing for more than 25 years, including my current position as Professor of Education at Penn State. I believe anyone can improve as a writer, and I also believe in the power of writing to help us express ourselves as well as to think, reflect, and discover. Even after publishing several books, I still love those moments when I’m not sure what to say, start writing, and then find out!.
